Buffalo Bills fans should want this Day 3 defensive tackle from the 2024 NFL Draft

The Buffalo Bills have only two defensive tackles on the roster, Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones. They will undoubtedly need to add depth, as well as a potential future starter. I have just the guy in mind.

The Buffalo Bills are returning their starting defensive tackles from the 2023 NFL season. A duo that started the season at an All-Pro level and you could make the argument they were playing better than any duo in the middle of the defensive line. Things took a turn when DaQuan Jones went down with a pectoral injury, but Oliver continued to play well. Buffalo's depth was tested with Jones's injury.

As the Bills head into the 2024 season, they have the same two starting defensive tackles under contract; however, they have no one behind them at the moment. While I fully expect the team to add at least one more DT via free agency, such as Austin Johnson, I also expect Brandon Beane and the Bills to select one in the NFL draft. They could take one early or maybe wait until the later rounds too.

There is also the possibility of taking two DTs in this coming draft. It's not the deepest position of this draft but there is talent that will be available within the first four rounds. This is where Khristian Boyd of Northern Iowa comes into play. Boyd is projected around the fourth or fifth round, depending on who you ask, but in every mock draft I do, I am trying to get this young man as part of the Buffalo Bills 2024 draft class. I recently tweeted out asking Bills Mafia to give me a name that is "their guy" someone they are pounding the table for and will down on that hill. I received several responses, but Boyd is that player for me.

He is 6'4" and weighs 317 pounds. He has the versatility to play either the one or three-technique role on the interior defensive line. Two things you regularly hear or read about in scouting reports are his strength and relentless pursuit. The high-motor guys are my favorite and the type of guys that Beane looks for. The Bills could land this prospect on Day Three of the NFL Draft and if they do, I'll be beyond excited for his career and seeing what he does in a Bills uniform.

As a fifth-year senior in 2023, he recorded 30 total pressures, which included 18 hurries, nine QB hits, and three sacks. He's played in 50 collegiate games and over 2,000 career snaps. The other aspect of his game that stands out is his exceptional burst off the line of scrimmage. If Buffalo gets this kid, I think he could be the future next to Oliver beyond the 2024 NFL season. Boyd was not invited to the NFL Combine; however, he was one of the players the Bills chose for a 30 visit.
