How much will the Buffalo Bills miss Tremaine Edmunds?
One of the biggest chances for this entire team is the departure of Tremaine Edmunds, who signed with the Chicago Bears as a free agent this offseason. The former first round pick is essentially the quarterback of the defense, as he is the leader on the field and the player who gets the defensive play call from the sideline.
It is tough to replace that type of leadership and experience as the coaching staff found out this summer. The Bills had a number of players competing for that spot like Tyrel Dodson, A.J. Klein, Baylon Spector, and Terrel Bernard.
Throughout preseason, it was a position of concern as Dodson and Klein didn't really fit the need. The one wild card was Bernard as he wasn't able to play in any preseason games due to a hamstring injury and was really an unknown.
However, the coaching staff saw enough during training camp and in practice to name him the starter this week. It will be interesting to see how he performs during the game, particularly handling the play call, and if he struggles it might not be long before the team calls up Christian Kirksey from the practice squad.
