Buffalo Bills: 4 free agents to sign if Kyle Allen struggles in preseason
Over the past three years, the backup quarterback position is one that has probably seen the most turnover for the Buffalo Bills. In 2021, the Bills signed free agent Mitchell Trubisky to back up Josh Allen and then last year Trubisky left to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
To replace Trubisky, the Buffalo Bills traded for Case Keenum but he would leave in free agency after the season to sign with the Houston Texans. The Buffalo Bills once again would be looking for a new quarterback and signed free agent Kyle Allen to a one-year deal.
There is a notable difference though with Kyle Allen compared to Mitchell Trubisky and Case Keenum is that those two quarterbacks are experienced with 114 career starts combined while Allen has only 19 career starts. For a team that has Super Bowl aspirations, the backup quarterback could play a critical role if the starter is forced to miss time.
The concerns have only increased as Kyle Allen hasn't looked great through training camp, including during the scrimmage Friday night, according to Ryan Talbot of newyorkupstate.com. If Kyle Allen continues to struggle, the Buffalo Bills do have some options in free agency if they want to make a switch.
