1.) Backup quarterback - Kyle Allen/Matt Barkley
This might come as a big surprise for this position to be on the list. However, with the opposite performances of both Allen and Barkley last Saturday, this deserves to be at the top of the list because of what the position is.
Coming into the preseason, it is safe to say that most fans guessed that Allen would be the backup and Barkley would more than likely be on the practice squad for a second consecutive season. With Barkley playing with the most command of the offense against the Colts and Allen struggling to move the ball and not getting into the end zone, this competition is officially open according to Sean McDermott.
Practice this week will be interesting for the coaching staff, but the performances of both quarterbacks will be something that Bills fans will certainly keep an eye on. If Barkley has a similar game against the Steelers and Allen continues to struggle with the offense, don’t think that Barkley won’t be named the backup to Josh Allen.
The backup quarterback is supposed to be someone that the team relies on should the starter go down. As of right now, Barkley is the better option and it seems as if it is his job to lose.
