Buffalo Bills: 3 early trade candidates for 2023 season

Now that the bulk of offseason moves are over for the Buffalo Bills, it's time to start looking ahead.

Buffalo added a good amount of talent, this offseason, at key positions. General manager Brandon Beane was able to retain some key players such as Jordan Poyer, while adding protection and weapons for Josh Allen via the draft and free agency.

As the team prepares for training camp later this summer, followed by the preseason, we have to wonder whether or not Beane could utilize the trade deadline with some particular players who either come on during camp or might make sense to let go of just in general.

Ryan Bates could be a Buffalo Bills trade candidate in 2023

The first possible trade candidate could end up being last year's starting guard Ryan Bates. Brandon Beane gave other teams a run for their money when he tried hard to retain Bates last year, but the veteran guard didn't exactly perform up to expectations in 2022. He was very good in 2021 during his action, but last season he took a step back and performed relatively inconsistent.

During the draft, the Bills went and snagged Florida guard O'Cyrus Torrence, who at one point was viewed as a first-round prospect by some experts. Now, Torrence figures to take Bates' spot due to the draft capital that was used on him.

If Bates and Torrence both perform admirably during training camp and the preseason, that would be an ideal scenario for the Bill. Having depth up front is a luxury, but it could also net the Bills a draft pick should another team need a starting guard.
