Bleacher Report leaves this overlooked Bills offseason addition off of important list

Within the NFL, there are moves that are made all of the time. Whether they are quick news updates or news that carry on for days, football fans are always looking for the big time news. However, there are some news that are made public where it could be a simple recognition but then it gets moved on quickly. Those are the kinds of moves that could be the most impactful for a team. For example, when the Buffalo Bills signed Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer back in the 2017 free agency period, there was no expectation that the dynamic duo would become one of, if not the best safety combos in the league.

Whether it was a trade, free agent signing, or drafting of a rookie, there were moves that were made this offseason that are being overlooked now but will prove that they were some of the best moves for a franchise. Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report created a list of the most overlooked moves that were made this offseason by various teams. Some of these moves include Zack Moss signing with the Cincinnati Bengals, the New Orleans Saints drafting quarterback Spencer Rattler, and wide receiver Parris Campbell signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Bills’ offseason is headlined by all of the losses that they had with veterans, along with them trading away Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Rather than going into a rebuild, Buffalo is reloading because they still have a franchise quarterback and there is coaching stability (for now). In the NFL Draft, the Bills drafted a promising young wide receiver in Keon Coleman who is expected to be the Bills future number one wideout and fill in the footsteps that Diggs created the past four seasons. However, the Bills also drafted another young promising player that could easily be the team’s best draft pick.

Safety Cole Bishop provides a lot of value for the Buffalo defense

The Bills have been able to create a secondary that is among one of the best in the league under Sean McDermott. Being a former defensive back himself in college, McDermott has been able to have a vision for what kind of secondary he wants in Buffalo and up to this point, the Bills’ backend of the defense has been near the top of the league. Going into this season, Buffalo has a newly revamped safety room with Mike Edwards (free agency) and Taylor Rapp (who re-signed with the Bills this offseason). In the second round, the Bills drafted Cole Bishop out of Utah who is fantastic in run support. In addition, Bishop can help cover bigger receivers as well as tight ends to take some pressure off of the linebackers from having to do so.

If there is one thing that the Bills have done a good job at under McDermott and Brandon Beane, it is drafting defensive talent to keep building up the roster and Bishop could easily be the next big player on this defense.
