The story of this NFL week is undoubtedly what will happen with star wide receiver Davante Adams. For a little while, fans had something else to take their minds off of last week's prime time loss to the Baltimore Ravens which ended their previously-undefeated season.
Now, the Bills are still a force to be reckoned with and should be considered one of the top contenders in the AFC. But, the news of Adams requesting a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders has put fans' minds in a completely different headspace.
Should the Bills acquire Adams, they'd have to be a clear favorite, right? That game against the Ravens might have been a whole lot closer if Adams was catching passes from Josh Allen ... right?
Well, even after one NFL insider tossed the Bills out there as a potential team "to watch" amidst the Adams trade situation, Wednesday morning, another insider has now poured a bucket of water all over those hopes and dreams.
Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer took to social media on Wednesday night and stated that, just as many experts had predicted, Adams is focused on making his way over to the New York Jets and reuniting with an old friend, quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Before Wednesday, the speculation involving Adams and the Bills was a whole lot of fun. Picturing the former All Pro on this offense was an absolute dream.
More Bills news:
As it turns out, that idea was, indeed, more of a pipe dream than anything.
The Bills might have to deal with both Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in the AFC East
It would have been quite the story for the Bills to snatch Adams right out from beneath the Jets. But, if the Raiders are going to allow him to have any say in this matter, Adams is likely going to pick New York.
It just makes way too much sense for him.
At this stage in Adams' career, he obviously wants to win a Super Bowl, but part of his originaly trade to the Raiders was the fact he got to play with his college quarterback, Derek Carr.
When the Raiders opted to move on from Carr, that probably spelled the beginning of the end for Adams in Vegas, although it took a little while longer than some anticipated. Now, he not only has the chance to win a championship (maybe?) by going to New York but also getting the chance to play with another one of his good friends in Rodgers.
This wouldn't be ideal for the Bills, of course, as they'd now have to deal with that duo. But, these are the facts as we know them, and it seems likely that a deal between Adams and the Jets is inevitable.
