The Buffalo Bills made waves in the NFL offseason, sending veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans as the team continues to navigate a tricky salary cap situation around superstar quarterback Josh Allen.
With Diggs off the roster, and the team letting Gabe Davis walk in free agency, the expectation is that the Bills are going to fill the void through the 2024 NFL Draft, which has a loaded crop of wide receivers.
Oddsmakers are prepared for the reigning AFC East champions to take a wide receiver in the first round, making it the overwhelming favorite to be the position the team uses its first pick on next Thursday night.
Many are tying the Bills to a wide receiver, including using some of the assets the team acquired in the Diggs deal to move up and select the pass catcher of its choosing, including players like Brian Thomas Jr. or AD Mitchell.
Wide receiver makes a ton of sense for Buffalo, who desperately needs some talent in the passing game for Allen, but the team has other needs that must be addressed.
While WR is the chalk, defensive lineman/edge is the second choice at +470 while cornerback is the other option below +1000. After pushing in a ton of assets to build a Super Bowl contender, general manager Brandon Beane needs to get creative tinkering the roster and maximizing Allen’s prime.
While the defense needs help, wide receiver is the most glaring need and why it appears very likely the team will go that route come next Thursday.
