Drama in the NFL is always a fun time unless it involves your favorite team. I’m sure that Dallas Cowboys fans are getting sick and tired of hearing about the contract stalemate that the Cowboys and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb are at. The Buffalo Bills are usually good with getting contract stuff out of the way rather than having it drag on. Brandon Beane has done a great job at avoiding any kind of contract dispute with most players. The most recent player in Buffalo that was somewhat vocal about his future with the Bills was Jordan Poyer, and he still got paid by the Bills after the 2022 season.
Across the AFC East, Buffalo’s rivals have or are currently dealing with contract drama that has been a distraction. The Miami Dolphins faced some with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa before they inked him to a four-year deal this past week. The New York Jets are currently in a tough situation with edge rusher Haason Reddick, whom they traded for from the Philadelphia Eagles this past offseason.
Then there are the New England Patriots, who don’t have a lot on their roster outside of a few guys. One of their star players in edge rusher Matthew Judon seems to be in the middle of an issue with the Patriots himself as well. Judon’s situation is bigger than Reddick’s because Reddick has yet to play a single snap for the Jets. Judon has atleast played the Bills in a Patriot uniform and his presence is well noticed.
During Monday’s training camp practice, Judon reported to camp but was not dressed at all. With him not being dressed at all, head coach Jerod Mayo was seen going over to Judon where the duo exchanged a few words and then Judon walked away off the field looking frustrated.
It seems like the Patriots and Judon are in a bit of hot water when it comes to coming to an agreement on a new contract, as Judon is looking to get paid more for his services. Judon is the only “true star” on the roster so the Patriots are in a bit of a predicament to make their best player happy. With how New England is in a rebuild and Judon is on the backend of his career, no one can blame Judon for wanting to get paid more.
This will be an interesting development that Bills fans should follow along with heading into the season.
