Josh Allen has been the Buffalo Bills best weapon in the running games for a few years now, but the Bills have invested in a young second-year running back, James Cook.

With Devin Singletary gone, Cook looks like the man in the Buffalo backfield and BetSided NFL betting analyst Iain MacMillan likes him to have a big night on Monday Night Football in Week 1.

The Bills face the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers, and James Cook’s big brother Davin tonight, and little brother James could be a very good bet in this prop. We’ll get into the odds, but first you should get into this promo from the DraftKings Sportsbook.

James Cook prop bet odds for Week 1

Cook's rushing yards prop is set at 43.5 yards in Week 1, which could be low if he does see a true work horse role -- even against a tough Jets defense.

Betting analyst prediction for James Cook on Monday Night Football Week 1

Buffalo didn’t put all of its eggs in the James Cook basket this offseason. The team went out and added former Patriot Damien Harris in free agency, but from what MacMillan is hearing, Cook will be RB1 to begin the season.

Reports indicate that James Cook could potentially be a workhorse back for the Buffalo Bills this season," MacMillan wrote. "He averaged a blistering 5.7 yards per carry in 2022, so it's clear to see why the coaching staff is trusting him to lead their rush attack in 2023. This might just be my favorite bet of the game.”

Every offseason the Bills talk about how they want Josh Allen to take less hits and the best way to do that is to rely on a running back to anchor the run-game, not their superstar quarterback.

After his elbow injury a season ago, this could be the year that Allen finally decides to listen and preserve his body. That could mean big things for Cook.
