The touchdown drought for the Buffalo Bills is finally over. Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but it is technically true. During the second quarter in their final preseason game, the Bills managed to drive the ball down the field that led to six points. After getting on the board by a field goal in the first quarter, Bills fans finally saw Buffalo punch the ball into the endzone.
It has been quarterback Ben DiNucci leading the way for the Bills. He has started off on a great note other than one play where he held onto the ball too long which resulted in a sack. After being down 7-3, the Bills drove the ball down the field that led to a touchdown pass from DiNucci to running back Darryton Evans.
After that, the Bills went for a two-point conversion in which DiNucci’s pass was tipped but tight end Tre McKitty caught it to convert it for the Bills. That put Buffalo up 11-7.
With this being the final preseason game for the Bills, the team needed to get into the endzone before the clock strikes down on all zeros. The last two weeks have been horrendous for the offense, as they failed to put any points on the board that wasn’t a field goal.
While this game is more focused on the final evaluation of the rest of the roster (as well as getting out of the game completely healthy), it is great to see some spark before the regular season starts. As far as DiNucci, he could be playing for a practice squad spot by the time next week rolls around.
As the rest of the game continues, fans should be keeping an eye on both sides of the ball and watching notable players like Joe Andreessen, Tyrell Shavers, and Frank Gore Jr. At this point, it doesn’t matter if Buffalo wins (however it would be great to end the preseason with a 2-1 record). All that matters is that the front office can properly evaluate the rest of the roster.
Before we know it, we will start to get the updates on which players will be suiting up in Week 1 for Buffalo, and who will have to find a new home this upcoming season.
