The Buffalo Bills fell short to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs once again, and now they need to re-tool to try to make another playoff run in 2024.

They have some stiff competition in the AFC East in the Miami Dolphins and needed a late-season run including a Week 18 win against them to claim the division crown. Will Miami be able to usurp Buffalo in 2024? Will the New York Jets become a contender with a healthy Aaron Rodgers? Can the New England Patriots completely rebuild their team?

Let's dive into the opening odds to win the AFC East in 2024 and then I'll break down the Bills' chances of winning the division for the fifth straight year.

Bills favored to win competitive AFC East

Despite the Bills having to re-tool their roster and the Dolphins and Jets expected to be competitive in 2024, they are favored to win the division for the fifth straight season.

The Dolphins had one of the most explosive offenses in 2023, but they lost momentum in the season's final stretch and fell short of winning the division. The Jets season was over before it even started with Aaron Rodgers tearing his Achilles in one of the first plays of the 2023 campaign. Finally, there's the New England Patriots who have begun a complete rebuild, including moving on from their long-time head coach, Bill Belichick.

If the Bills want to win the division again in 2024, they can't afford to start slow like they did in 2023. They were just 6-6 entering their BYE week before finishing the season on a 5-0 run.

Buffalo ended the season fourth in the league in average scoring margin at +7.9. The Dolphins were close behind them, coming in sixth at +4.8. The Jets and the Patriots finished 27th and 29th respectively at -5.1 and -7.6, but you have to imagine the Jets will be a different team if Rodgers can stay healthy.

The bottom line is as long as the Bills have Josh Allen, they'll be a top contender to win the division.
