Do the Buffalo Bills release Von Miller?

Von Miller was the big free agent signing for the Buffalo Bills in 2023 and in the early part of the season, he looked worth every bit of his contract. He was expected to transform the pass rush and really did that with eight sacks in 10 games.

Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL on Thanksgiving and while he returned in Week 5 this season Von Miller didn't look like the same player. He would play in 14 games (including playoffs) and had only five total tackles and three QB hits.

He was so ineffective that at one point, the Buffalo Bills elected to make him a healthy scratch in Week 17. Similar to Stefon Diggs, the Bills can't really afford to move on from the former All-Pro pass rusher. If he were to be released before June 1st, it would result in over $32 million in dead cap and $-8.7 million in "cap savings".

The Buffalo Bills will likely keep Von Miller this offseason and hope that as he moves further away from that ACL injury, he can return to being that transformative pass rusher for this defense in 2024.
