Can Boogie Basham earn a spot on the 53-man roster?
After the selection of Greg Rousseau in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills returned to the position to select Boogie Basham out of Wake Forest. He didn't have the ceiling that Rousseau might but he seemed like he could be a consistent defensive end after a productive college career.
In his first two seasons, that productivity has translated to the NFL and Basham has not only struggled to see the field but be active on game day. He has appeared in only 23 games over the first two seasons and has yet to record a start.
Through the first two years, Basham has only 4.5 sacks and eight QB hits in those 23 regular season games. However, the playoffs have been a different story and what should give the Buffalo Bills hope that he can turn the corner as he has two sacks and 3 QB hits in only four playoff games.
The challenge for the Buffalo Bills is whether or not they have a roster spot for Basham (more on that in the next slide). He still has two years left on a rookie deal and could generate some trade interest if made available.
The pressure is absolutely on Boogie Basham this summer and he will need a good training camp to remain with the team.
