5 options for Buffalo Bills to address linebacker before regular season

Trade for Jordan Hicks

The best option for the Buffalo Bills at this point of the season, if they don't believe the answer is on the roster, would be to see if the Minnesota Vikings would consider trading Jordan Hicks. He was released by the Arizona Cardinals last offseason and would sign a two-year contract with the Vikings and start every regular season game last year.

This offseason, Hicks agreed to a pay cut to remain with the Vikings because he wanted to play in Brian Flores' defense. It is typically rare to see teams trade players after they agree to a pay cut and make a commitment to the team so there should likely be a conversation with Hicks to see if he would even consider a trade as a courtesy.

However, the reason the Vikings might be open to trading Jordan Hicks is that undrafted free agent Ivan Pace Jr. has looked tremendous through training camp and preseason. He has played so well that he should be in line to start Week 1 for this defense.

If the Vikings have that type of confidence in Pace then getting a Day 3 pick for Jordan Hicks which should be his last season with the franchise either way, could be enough to get a deal done.

For the Buffalo Bills, this move makes perfect sense as Hicks is a veteran linebacker who has had success in each of his stops in the NFL. He should be able to step in right away and be the starter the entire season.
