The Buffalo Bills have looked to be in a Super Bowl window the past three years and the question is how much longer that window might stay open. The good news is that they have a franchise quarterback Josh Allen, who is one of the best in the league, and having a player like that certainly helps keep that window open.

However, Allen is not able to do it alone and will need help from players around him. The Bills have done a pretty decent job the past few years in adding players in the NFL Draft that have become starters and look to be entering the prime of their careers.

Let's take a look at the five building blocks for the Buffalo Bills that will determine just how competitive this team is over the next few years.

Matt Milano

Let's start with a player who has been a key part of the Buffalo Bills defense the past few seasons but could become more of a leader moving forward. Matt Milano has been a starter for the past five seasons but during that time the leaders on this side of the ball have been players like Jerry Hughes, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, and Von Miller.

This offseason, the Bills had to make a tough decision about whether or not to retain Tremaine Edmunds who was entering free agency. The Bills couldn't work out a new deal and instead extended Milano with a two-year contract that keeps him in Buffalo through the 2026 season.

For a linebacker coming off his first All-Pro season, Milano is expected to be the starter for the next four seasons and should be one of the longer-tenured players on this side of the ball.
