4. Tyler Bass (Round 6, 2020)
Not many kickers are drafted on an NFL team unless the team saw something in that kicker. The Bills were going into the 2020 draft with Stephen Hauschka, a proven kicker already on the roster, but still decided to draft Georiga Southern kicker Tyler Bass in the sixth round.
Many fans were questioning the pick as Hauska didn't have a bad season prior. Bass and Hauska would be battling it out in training camp to see who would retain the kicker position. In the end, young Bass would win it and Hauschka would get cut before the season started.
Bass would struggle early on as Bass would miss five field goals and an extra point in the first half of the 2020 season, raising more questions about why Bass got the job over Hauschka. However, Bass would prove why he was in the second half of the season, only missing one field goal off 16 attempts.
Bass would finish his rookie season, scoring an impressive 141 points, with an okay percentage of 82. The main thing that Bass showcased was the power he put on his kicks as he was 4-6 on kicks from 50-59 yards and made his career-long kick of 58 yards.
Bass would continue his career as a reliable kicker, and come in clutch with some long kicks that helped the Bills win many football games. Fans shouldn't let recency bias change their view on Bass. He's been one of the better kickers in the NFL since 2020, and the Bills were lucky to draft him in the sixth.
