I've done a handful of mock drafts over the past couple of months and in a few of them, I had the Bills selecting Frank Gore Jr. in the later rounds. Which shows how much I know because I was wrong. Buffalo didn't draft him, but they signed him as a UDFA. He'll join a crowded backfield but more on that later. For now, let's focus on his dad's comments. Josina Anderson of CBSSports spoke with NFL great, Frank Gore Sr. who ad a few thoughts on his son joining the Bills and about him not getting drafted.
"We’re good, we're going to Buffalo man to do our thing. Tell them they better be ready, trust me. I know what I’m raising. Folks slept on my son; they slept on me too, they'll see. My bloodline is for real."Frank Gore Sr.
I spent some time watching Frank Gore Jr. at the collegiate level, and the Bills are getting a touch runner, with good balance and vision. At the Shrine Bowl, he was fantastic, rushing six times for 87 yards and a touchdown. He's a shorter back at 5'8" but weighs 201 pounds. He's tough to bring down with his low center of gravity and size. Frank Gore Sr. had more to say too.
"I’m happy to get my son to this point," he added. "We’re coming to play. Buffalo got a dog; I promise you that. I don't give a s**t about a draft pick. We’re about to party and do our thing."Frank Gore Sr.
You have to love the confidence and determination, but it won't be easy for Gore Jr. to make the 53-man roster. The Bills have their number one in James Cook and re-signed Ty Johnson to a one-year deal. They also drafted Ray Davis in the fourth round and still have Darynton Evans on the roster. While he has an uphill battle, I believe in Gore Jr., and it would not shock me if he makes a push to make the roster. Plus, the Bills went into Week One a season ago with five backs on the roster, so it's not out of the question.
