Buffalo Bills have put a number of defensive ends on notice

The Buffalo Bills have always valued depth at defensive end during Sean McDermott's tenure with the team. It is not uncommon to see the Bills rotate 4 (or even 5) defensive ends during the course of the game with all of them seeing at least 20% of the defensive snaps.

However, the Bills can have only so many pass rushers on a 53-man roster and the team may have too many. Assuming Von Miller doesn't begin the season on the physically unable to perform list, the Bills probably can have only a max of 5 on their 53-man roster with Von Miller, Greg Rousseau, and Leonard Floyd now probably locks for three of those spots.

This leaves now A.J. Epenesa, Boogie Basham, Shaq Lawson, and Shane Ray as the four likely candidates for those final two spots.

After the season Epenesa had last year, he seems like a player the Bills can't afford to cut. However, he is entering the final year of his deal so the Bills may look to trade him. As for Boogie Basham, he hasn't produced like many expected but does have two years left on his rookie deal.

Meanwhile, Shaq Lawson started last season after Miller's injury and was effective at times while Shane Ray is a former first round pick that has some upside. The coaching staff is going to have some very tough decisions this summer and there will certainly be some good defensive ends that won't make this roster.
