4.) Kaiir Elam versus the field of cornerbacks

When Kaiir Elam was drafted in the first round last year, he was arguably supposed to be the replacement of Tre White, who was rehabbing a torn ACL from the season prior. Just like any other rookie, Elam had growing pains but also showed out in the second half of the season.

The only issue with Elam is that there were times when he was replaced by Christian Benford (a sixth round draft pick in 2022) and Dane Jackson (a seventh round draft pick in 2020).

Elam allowed 70 percent of throws completed that were thrown to him, as well as 11 yards per target. He’ll have to step up his game and lock down the second corner position opposite of White.

As for the rest of the field, guys like Benford, Jackson, Cam Lewis, and Cameron Dantzler have the chance to put the pressure on Elam. However, Elam will have the best chance to secure his starting spot because of his availability and the flashes he showed down the stretch last season.
