The Buffalo Bills now have only one preseason game left this year and shortly after that game against the Chicago Bears, they will need to begin making significant cuts to their roster. Unlike past years, where there has been waves of cuts, the Bills will have to go from 90 players down to 53 by Tuesday, August 29th.
While a majority of the roster looks to be pretty well set, there are still a handful of players who doesn't know whether they will make the roster or not. After the second preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, these are four players that are on the roster bubble this week.
4 Buffalo Bills on the roster bubble after second preseason game
Andy Isabella
Andy Isabella has been the talk around the Buffalo Bills over the past month after the team signed him early in training camp. He has looked great in training camp and that trend continued in both preseason games, including this past week against the Steelers where he was the starting kick returner.
However, the Bills have had their wide receiver depth chart pretty much set and if they keep only six, they may not have a spot for Isabella. The reason is that if the Bills keep six, Isabella would have taken Justin Shorter's spot on the 53-man roster. However, the rookie had an excellent game against the Steelers while catching his first career touchdown.
In the end, I think the Buffalo Bills find a way to get Isabella on the 53-man roster but it is far from a guarantee at this point. The former second round pick will need another great game this weekend in the preseason finale.
