3 players the Buffalo Bills could include in a Jonathan Taylor trade
By Ryan Heckman
3. Kaiir Elam
Finally, the Bills could try throwing in last year's first-round pick, cornerback Kaiir Elam, in a deal for Taylor. The Colts are a team that has a ton of youth at the cornerback position and are trying to establish an identity there, but could still use some help.
Last season, Elam struggled a bit as a rookie. Overall, he was no where near as good as he should have been, considering his draft status. Elam allowed 31 receptions on 41 targets, good for over 75 percent completion rate from opposing quarterbacks. He was also credited with a missed tackle percentage of 13 percent, per Pro Football Focus.
Elam might be a tough sell, considering how he performed last year, but he is also vying for a starting position this season and looks like he could have landed it. The improvement in Year 2 has been evident in camp, and hopefully he's able to develop more this season.
The Colts did say that they would prefer a first-round pick in exchange for Taylor, and in a way, they're getting it in Elam. Buffalo would still have Dane Jackson and Christian Benford, each with experience as well, to compete for a starting job.
