3.) The early return of Von Miller
It was Thanksgiving of last season when Von Miller’s first season with the Bills ended with a torn ACL against the Detroit Lions, just like what had happened to cornerback Tre’Davious White in 2021. The absence of Miller affected the pass rush for the Bills' front four down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs.
During the offseason, Miller has been vocal when it came to trying to come back ready to go for the start of the regular season. While it would be amazing to have Miller back on the field for week one, getting completely healthy and ready for contact is more important to make sure Miller comes back the player he was when he tore his ACL.
Before training camp, the Bills placed Miller on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list which general manager Brandon Beane said on Wednesday was the plan all along. While this was the plan, it does put him in jeopardy of being ready for Week 1 against the Jets.
While it is a possibility that Miller returns in the earlier part of the season, there is no need to rush him back immediately. Get the star player healthy so that he can perform at a star player level.
