We are less than a week away from everyone on the Buffalo Bills reporting for training camp and the start of the season being just around the corner. This will be a time when analysts, fans and of course the Bills front office will make choices as to who will make the final 53-man roster and who could be finding another team to join for the season. It is never easy deciding who makes the team and who gets cut or even traded. There are plenty of factors that go into the decisions, whether it is a contract, overall depth at a position, or just pure evaluation of talent.

Nonetheless, the Bills will more than likely make some moves that catch fans by surprise. It is also not out of the question as to whether or not they could pull off a trade or two depending if they can get some value back.

We take a look three Bills who could have a high chance at being a trade candidate before the 2024 season.

WR Chase Claypool

It might seem odd putting Claypool on this list considering the fact that the wide receiver room looks the worst it has been since Josh Allen’s rookie season. However, Brandon Beane has done a great job at finding players who have a chip on their shoulder and are worthy of proving their value. There is no doubt that Claypool has the talent, he just needed to grow up a bit which has affected his career, being traded twice early on in his young career.

Let’s say that Claypool impresses the Bills front office but maybe not enough to keep him on the roster, Beane could make some calls to other wide receiver needy teams such as the Giants, Chargers, or Panthers to see if they would want to trade for Claypool.

OL Will Clapp

Coming over from the Los Angeles Chargers, Will Clapp was a starter last year and brings versatility to the Bills. He can play center and guard which is something that the coaching staff highly values. McDermott has shown that he does not mind bringing on plenty of depth on the offensive line so as long as Clapp isn’t a huge disappointment in camp, he will more than likely make the roster as a backup. However, should an injury occur across the NFL where a team is looking for a one year plug-in player on the offensive line, Clapp could get some attention from other general managers.

CB Kaiir Elam

This is a make-or-break season for the third year corner. Kaiir Elam has not lived up to his first round potential and may not even be a starter once again in 2024. Rasul Douglas and Christian Benford will more than likely be the starting outside corners so unless Elam outshines one of them in camp, he will be nothing more than a rotational guy in the secondary. If he is not able to show that he has grown since last year, Beane may want to strongly consider moving off of Elam if they don’t plan on having him part of Buffalo’s future.
