2 Jaguars weaknesses the Bills need to attack in Week 3

The Buffalo Bills have yet another primetime game as they play the Jacksonville Jaguars home on Monday night. The Bills have the first game of the doubleheader that includes the Washington Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals. For the Bills, this is their second home game of the season as they look to stay undefeated and atop of the AFC East. 

As for the Jacksonville Jaguars, they look to finally get in the win column, losing their first two games of the season. For a team that has added so much talent, nobody expected this start from Jacksonville. The Bills new-look defense, led by rookie coordinator Bobby Babich, will look to contain some of the speed of the Jaguars offense. Both teams are a bit banged up going into this matchup, the Bills on the defensive side of the ball, and the Jaguars on offense. In this article, let’s take a look at two Jaguars position groups you don’t have to be worried about 

The Secondary

The Jaguars biggest off-season additions in the secondary were Ronald Darby and Darnell Savage Jr. Along with that, their star corner Tyson Campbell is on injured reserve with a . That’s a big drop off from 2023 when they had Darious Williams, Tyson Campbell, and Tre Herndon starting. Jacksonville’s defense will rely on pass rushers Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen to disrupt Josh Allen before the secondary breaks down. 

The Bills and wide receivers Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, and Khalil Shakir will try to exploit what has been a lackluster secondary to open up the season. While the Jaguars' defense allows 3.8 yards per carry, Buffalo may be able to break down their run defense while having a successful day in the air. Josh Allen has found a connection with most of his receivers now, and he should be able to have a successful day against a defense that’s allowed 338 yards to Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. 

Offensive line

For an offensive line that has added Ezra Cleveland at the 2023 trade deadline, and signed old Buffalo Bill Mitch Morse, the group should be better than it has been in their first two games. It ranks 23rd in the league and has allowed Trevor Lawrence to be sacked a whopping seven times. Starting running back Travis Etienne has had a hard time getting going, rushing for only 96 yards on 25 attempts. The Bills pass rush, led by Von Miller and Greg Rousseau, should be able to take advantage of what has been average tackle play by the Jaguars. 

The Bills defensive line has been tremendous as of late, sacking the quarterback six times, and allowing 163 rushing yards to begin the season. Opposing defenses have been able to contain Etienne as of late, and the Bills stout defensive line should have no issue doing the same.
