The Buffalo Bills have had control of the AFC East since 2020 and they won the division five consecutive years after Tom Brady left the New England Patriots. Once Brady had left, it became the Bills’ division to lose. Going into last season, the expectations weren’t different. Everyone was expecting Buffalo to once again take the division, even with the Patriots making a little bit of noise.
However, that clearly didn’t happen as the Patriots (who had an extremely easy schedule) ended up winning the division. It was partially due to them having the schedule that they did, as well as Buffalo playing inconsistent football all season long. With that, the Bills had to go on the road in the playoffs and they ended up losing in the second round to the Denver Broncos.
Now with the changes that the Bills made both on the coaching staff and the roster, fans are curious to see how things will pan out for the Bills. Luckily, Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone has things turning out great for the Bills in the regular season.
Bills destined to take AFC East back in 2026 season
With OTAs and mandatory minicamp behind us, Scataglia gave his AFC record predictions before training camp begins next month, going by division. In the AFC East, Scataglia has the Bills winning the division with an 11-6 record, two games ahead of the Patriots who were listed at 9-8.
Both the Jets and Dolphins were listed at 3-14, which is no surprise.
"Even with the Buffalo Bills moving on from Sean McDermott in favor of Joe Brady, they are still in a good position to win the AFC East. One huge advantage Buffalo will have in switching head coaches is that Brady was already with the organization, so there is a ton of familiarity that should help this transition be easier." said Scataglia.
The Patriots and Bills are set to battle for the AFC East in the foreseeable future, there’s no doubt about that. At the same time, the Bills have had a much better offseason than New England, and it’s a fresh start for the Bills with Joe Brady in charge.
Obviously, nothing is guaranteed as anything could happen. At the same time, when you look at the setup that New England has going into this season, and the great changes that Buffalo made, it’s hard not to say that the Bills will be taking the division back where it belongs.
