The 2025 season was a bit of a disappointing season for the Buffalo Bills for two major reasons. First, they failed to reach the Super Bowl once again which led to all of their offseason changes that they made. Second, they didn’t just fall short in the playoffs again but they did so as a Wild Card team.

From 2020-2024, the Bills won five consecutive AFC East championships. Then with them playing inconsistent football throughout the year, and the New England Patriots having one of the easiest schedules that a team could have, the Bills lost the division back to the Patriots.

Even though the Patriots did make a run to the Super Bowl, it was one of the more unimpressive runs that we have seen and they were completely embarrassed by the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl. Now with them having to play a first place schedule, we will really see what the Pats are all about.

The NFL did no favors for the Patriots to start out their season, as they will be up in Seattle for an early Super Bowl rematch against the Seahawks. It will be the first game of the season, and Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone has predicted something about the Patriots that Bills Mafia will love.

Patriots could gift Bills early lead in AFC East race in Week 1

Scataglia recently listed five teams who are "guaranteed to lose in Week 1” for this upcoming season, and one of those teams listed was the Patriots.

"The Pats and Seahawks was the 2025 season's Super Bowl game, with the Seahawks running away with it, and while Week 1 games can sometimes bring shocking finishes, we did see Patriots' quarterback Drake Maye struggle against top competition in the playoffs, and one could argue that the Seahawks homefield advantage is the most overwhelming in the NFL." said Scataglia.

"The Seahawks also have more sheer roster talent, and the pregame hype of the reigning champions taking the field is simply going to be too much for the reigning AFC champions to overcome. It could be close, but Seattle already has this one in the bag." Scataglia added.

With the Patriots and Seahawks set to kickoff the season in the first game, if the Patriots lose this game and the Bills win their Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans, Buffalo will get an early lead over them in the division. Even though it would only be one week, that could be a difference maker at some point in the season.

Both the Bills and Patriots have tough opponents, and they are both road teams in Week 1. However, the Bills and Texans always seem to come down to the wire against each other and the Bills are due for a little bit of luck to go their way. As for New England, they get to re-live a nightmare against the team that embarrassed them on the biggest stage in the sport.
