Notable NFL cut candidate would put finishing touches on the Bills offense

It's a high risk/high reward chance.

Everyone knows that the Buffalo Bills have major work to do still with the wide receiver position. Bringing in D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears was a great trade for the Bills, but they still need to add another playmaker or two before training camp. Ideally, they should be looking to bring in another veteran and possibly draft one as well.

Buffalo released Curtis Samuel and they let Gabe Davis go into free agency, but he is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in the playoffs. Josh Allen is starting to slowly approach the back end of his prime and the Bills’ championship window is closing every year that they don’t make or win the Super Bowl.

Buffalo may have the opportunity to add a player that could very well become a cut candidate, but there are some risks as well.

If Brandon Aiyuk ends up being released, Bills must strongly consider signing him

Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report listed 49ers’ wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk as a notable candidate and the Bills may want to consider taking the chance on adding him to the offense.

"If the 49ers haven't found a trade partner by the end of draft weekend, Aiyuk will probably be a post-June 1 cut. Releasing him before then would cost San Francisco $19.9 million in cap space, while releasing him after June 1 would save $1.3 million in 2026 cap room. What could AIyuk provide another receiver-needy team? That depends on how close he is to being 100 percent healthy. The 28-year-old racked up 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns on 75 receptions in his last full season." said Knox.

There have been issues with the 49ers and Aiyuk as the NFL world has known now for months that Aiyuk played his last down with the team. It would be extremely surprising if a team decided to trade for Aiyuk.

Even with the Bills trading for Moore, adding another receiver like Aiyuk would open up the offense even more. While Aiyuk hasn’t played any football since early 2024, the Bills could take the great risk of giving him a prove-it deal and join an offense where he would be catching passes from Josh Allen.

From 2022-2023, Aiyuk had back-to-back 1,000+ seasons and 15 receiving touchdowns. He is a dynamic playmaker who can still provide great value to a team that needs wide receiver help. Imagine an offense led by Josh Allen and then defenses would have to find a way to contain D.J. Moore, Brandon Aiyuk, Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, and James Cook…that doesn’t sound like a bad idea for Bills fans.
