With the NFL Draft about a month away, it's now time for the Buffalo Bills to think about their picks. Even with Josh Allen still in his prime, it would be smart for the team to draft a project quarterback with one of their many later-round selections.
The team should be looking for a younger arm to sit back on the sideline and learn from their elite quarterback to become the team's future starter.
With the Bills having seven picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, they already have backup quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Shane Buechele on the bench, but neither is a long-term solution down the road.
Three quarterbacks Bills could pick in 2026 NFL Draft
1. Drew Allar - Penn State
Suppose there were one quarterback who could be a Joe Brady-type arm; then Happy Valley has one in Drew Allar.
Allar is built like Allen, at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, with a rocket arm, and can also make off-platform throws. More importantly, he's a game-changer like Allen, as he will put his body on the line and play "Superman" when he needs to run and convert that crucial 3rd-and-long play.
He also compares to current Giants QB Jaxson Dart, who last year drew similar comparisons to Allen.
The question is, can Allar live up to the Allen comparisons if the Bills pick him? He would be leaving Happy Valley to come to Orchard Park and play for Brady at a brand new field stadium. The Bills should take Allar somewhere in the third round or early in the fourth round.
2. Cade Klubnik - Clemson
The youngster from Clemson could be another type of quarterback whom Brady could mold into an NFL starter. While he's only 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Cade Klubnik is still very athletic and can throw the ball with precision and length.
He also ran Clemson's variation of the "Tush Push" sneak. At least Klubnik will be ready to run that in Buffalo once Brady coaches him up on the other parts of his game.
Klubnik is also considered one of the elite RPO (run-pass option) playmakers in his class. His power during his operation time is in a class by itself.
The sturdy QB would be a great choice with one of the Bills' two 5th-round picks, should he slide down that far in the draft.
3. Haynes King - Georgia Tech
Haynes King played college football for three years at Texas A&M, and after transferring to Georgia Tech, he became a star on the field for the next three years.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound athlete is a true dual-threat quarterback with leg speed and a talented arm. Brady would love to add this young man to the fold because he has both a 4-year and a graduate degree.
King has six years of college football experience across two teams, indicating his strength and skill. He has gained leadership and knowledge that will help him in quarterbacking the next team he plays for. The Bills should look to take King as a Day 3, pick #168 or #182.
No matter which quarterback the Bills choose if they land any of these players, the answer is clear. Allen isn't getting any younger. Therefore, the time is now for the team to take a chance on a project quarterback who will be their quarterback of the future after Allen is done with the Bills.
