No-brainer Maxx Crosby Bills trade package is too good for Raiders to refuse

The Buffalo Bills don’t have to worry about offseason moves just yet, though the offseason is peaking just around the corner. Regardless of how the season ends, general manager Brandon Beane is going to have his work cut out for him in solving the issues that have plagued the Bills throughout the 2025 season.

One of those issues is the pass-rushing unit. Greg Rousseau leads the team in sacks with just seven, with Joey Bosa checking in with five heading into the regular season finale. Overall, the Bills rank 19th in the league with 35 total sacks.

Rousseau, of course, isn’t going anywhere with a 4-year, $80 million deal in hand. Bosa, while he’s certainly made a case for a new contract, could be too rich for the Bills to re-sign at 30 years old. The Bills may want to keep their options open, especially if they can strike a trade for one of the league’s most feared pass rushers.

How Buffalo Bills could pry Maxx Crosby away from the Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby appears to be coming to the end of his tenure with the franchise that drafted him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Crosby was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury ahead of Week 17, and in petty fashion, shared videos of himself playing basketball on social media to prove that he could have finished the season.

Crosby, 28, recorded his fourth 10+ sack season in 2025, bringing his career total to 69.5. He signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension in March, so the Bills would have to make some serious magic with the cap numbers to execute a trade, but the offer Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox suggested may be too much for either the Raiders or the Bills to pass up.

In this scenario, the Bills would open up $5.5 million in cap space by dealing Josh Palmer on top of the $5.3 million they are expected to have to begin the offseason. Signing Palmer last offseason has proven to be another failed attempt at resolving the wide receiver room. With just 21 catches for 302 yards heading into the final week of the season, he won’t be missed in Buffalo.

Obviously, though, from a financial perspective, the Bills would still need to move more pieces around. But for a talent like Crosby, it should be worth it. After all, having a threat like Crosby on the defense opens up opportunities for everyone else on the defense, including Rousseau on the other end of the trenches and the defensive secondary.

Naturally, the largest concern is parting with two first-round picks while only getting a single player in return. The Bills have massive concerns at wide receiver that must be addressed, and letting go of those firsts could make that difficult with another lackluster wide receiver free agent market on the horizon.

Still, Crosby would be a significant upgrade over the older, more injury-prone Bosa on the edge of the defense while giving the Bills' defense a stalwart presence for years to come.
