When the Buffalo Bills opted to release Von Miller back in March, they were lacking a true NFL veteran who could be in the edge rusher room to pair with Greg Rousseau. However, it didn’t take long for the Bills to find Miller’s replacement as Buffalo signed former Chargers edge rusher Joey Bosa to a one-year deal worth up to $12.6 million.

For almost a decade with the Chargers, Bosa established himself as one of the best pass rushers…when he was on the field and not dealing with an injury. In recent memory, Bosa has had multiple injuries that have kept him off the field. It played a little bit of a role into why the Chargers released him.

With Bosa coming to Buffalo, the Bills are getting a proven veteran who has been a game disrupter but has not proven to stay on the field a majority of the time due to injury.

Joey Bosa listed as Bills player under most pressure for 2025 season

Alaina Getzenberg from ESPN (part of NFL Nation reporters) recently listed Bosa as the player for the Bills under the most pressure heading into this season. Here’s what Getzenberg said about Bosa:

"This is a big season for the pass rusher, who signed a one-year, $12.6 million deal with the Bills in the offseason after spending the first nine seasons of his career with the Chargers. Bosa, 30, is on a bit of a prove-it deal after missing a substantial amount of time over the past three seasons due to injuries. If he can stay healthy and put together a strong season, a significant contract could await."

It was a perfect pairing with the Bills and Bosa. After there was speculation that Bosa might go join his brother, Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers, he opted to move across the country and join a championship contender in Buffalo.

The Bills are getting a player who has a lot to prove and it’s not a long-term commitment. On the other hand, Bosa is joining a team that is ready to win now and if he can be the difference maker for this defense, then he will set himself up to be a top free agent going into the offseason next year.
