NFL writer clearly missed Brandon Beane's explosive rant on WR status for Bills

In case you haven’t heard by now, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is tired of people saying that the Bills need wide receiver help. Ever since the team let Gabe Davis walk in free agency and traded Stefon Diggs last offseason, the Bills have been heavily criticized about their “lack of wide receiver talent”.

You would think that after last year’s outing by the Bills’ offense that averaged 30+ points per game and was led by the MVP of the league in Josh Allen, the narrative about the Bills not having elite wide receiver talent would be put to rest. You also have to consider the fact that the Bills extended Khalil Shakir (Allen’s go-to guy who doesn’t drop many passes) and also signed both Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore.

The Bills only got stronger in the wideout room this offseason, yet Beane still faced backlash about the “lack of wideout talent” after the NFL Draft. Right after the draft, Beane appeared on WGR550 radio station in Buffalo and he went on a major rant about how he’s sick and tired of the criticism that the Bills have been getting about their wide receiver room.

Bills continue to face backlash about wide receiver room

Cody Benjamin from CBS Sports listed the biggest remaining needs for the true NFL contenders heading into the 2025. When it came to the Bills, Benjamin made a big mistake by saying that the Bills still need to address the wide receiver room. Here’s the bit from Benjamin:

"General manager Brandon Beane has insisted Buffalo has adequate weaponry for Josh Allen, but even with Josh Palmer's speed now paired with Khalil Shakir's well-roundedness, are we sure this group has a true No. 1 outlet?"

So, because there is no true No. 1 receiver on the Bills, that makes it a big need? No, not even close. Under offensive coordinator Joe Brady, the Bills are infamous for spreading the ball around to multiple players. It doesn’t matter the name, just about whether or not they can produce.

This Bills team showed that they can compete at a high level without a big name on the outside of the numbers. The 2024 season was a preview for what this offense will look like this upcoming season, but with extra additions in players like Palmer and Moore who can separate and open up the field with separation.
