Bills fans have had to endure heartbreak year-after-year at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs come playoff time. Ever since the playoffs in 2021, the Bills have been sent home by the Chiefs four of the last five postseasons. Two times have come against the Chiefs in the AFC championship game.

It seems like that this continuous nightmare will forever live on for Bills fans until Patrick Mahomes leaves the Chiefs, or the Chiefs get eliminated in the playoffs before having to face the Bills. When Buffalo and Kansas City take the field against each other in the playoffs, it’s an electric game through all four quarters but the Chiefs always manage to pull one more better play which advances them.

The Bills lost by three points this past conference championship and was forced to watch the Chiefs celebrate another AFC title and advance to the Super Bowl. Luckily, the Chiefs got a taste of their own medicine when the Philadelphia Eagles destroyed them throughout the entire game.

Buffalo went into this offseason knowing that improvements were needed on defense. Brandon Beane went out and signed various players for Sean McDermott to plug into the defensive line and create havoc up front. The acquisitions of Joey Bosa, Michael Hoecht, and Larry Ogunjobi should be difference makers come playoff time.

As for the Chiefs, they haven’t exactly had a splashy free agency period. They are taking a huge risk with Jaylon Moore, who signed a two-year deal to protect Patrick Mahomes despite being behind Trent Williams in San Francisco. Aside from that signing, the Chiefs haven’t exactly improved their roster by any means.

Right now, you can argue that the Bills have a more promising 2025 season than the Chiefs but there is still the NFL draft to actually solidify that statement. Heading into the draft, the Bills received some high praise in a recent NFL power rankings list that show why they are destined to finally overtake the Chiefs for the AFC.

NFL power rankings list proves that Bills are ready to take the AFC away from Chiefs

Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone created a power rankings list for all 32 teams and the Bills are listed as the best team in the AFC, and third overall in the NFL at No. 3 only behind the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.

"The best team in the AFC right now is the Buffalo Bills. They have the reigning MVP and may also have the best roster in the conference as well. Can they get over the hump in 2025?"
Lou Sciatalgia, NFL Spin Zone

Scataglia is on point when saying that the Bills are the best team in the AFC. They have Josh Allen under center and last year was considered a little bit of a rebuilding year, yet they made it to the conference championship.

Now Buffalo has taken some steps in free agency to improve their roster. Up next is the draft and making sure that they bring in some solid rookie talent who can help the Bills get over the hump in the playoffs.
