When you have a superstar quarterback like Josh Allen, it’s important to do whatever you can to make sure that you give him reliable weapons around him so that he can elevate the offense to the next level. That’s what general manager Brandon Beane has done and it led to Allen winning his first MVP award.

Allen is at the point in his career where he is now elevating players around him, rather than the opposite. When the Bills traded for Stefon Diggs in 2020, that was the move that helped Allen become who he is now. Last season proved that Allen doesn’t need a big-time receiver for him to excel.

He has many options to throw to and the “everybody eats” mentality that Joe Brady has installed has started a little bit of a new trend in the NFL. However, you can never ask for too many weapons for your MVP quarterback. Even though the Bills don’t have a huge need at wide receiver, if they manage to leave the first round with one of the top receiver prospects, that shouldn’t any Bills fan mad.

NFL mock draft gives Josh Allen a valuable weapon

NFL Draft Analyst Chad Reuter from NFL.com created a five-round mock draft and instead of having the Bills staying at their original pick at No. 30, Reuter has the Bills moving up three spots to draft Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden. Buffalo moves up in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens, sending over No. 30 and a fourth-round pick in exchange for No. 27 and a sixth-round pick.

"Buffalo could really use a downfield playmaker in this draft, so either Golden or Texas teammate Isaiah Bond should be on its radar. The Bills swap a fourth-round selection for a sixth-round pick to move up three spots."

It would be a similar setup of what happened to the Bills last year when the Chiefs traded up with them to select WR Xavier Worthy. In this trade scenario, the Bills trade up with an AFC rival to select a fast wideout to add into their offense. The Ravens would be giving Allen another weapon to use for the next four years and could be an ultimate game-changer.

Golden caught the attention of NFL scouts and analysts after his combine performance where he ran a 4.29 40-yard dash. The Bills need to add some speed to their offense and they missed out on the chance to draft Worthy last year. Now they may have the chance to add that speedy type of receiver with Golden.
