After a lot of anticipation and waiting, we may have learned who the Buffalo Bills will be facing in Week 1 to open up the 2025 season. Again, this is not yet confirmed, but a schedule leak from OzzyNFL has the Bills hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football to open up the season.
This is the second schedule leak from OzzyNFL involving the Bills, where they are rumored to host the Miami Dolphins in Week 3 on Thursday Night Football. Once again, that is just a rumor and has not been confirmed yet.
Putting the Bills on primetime to start the season should not be a shocker to anyone, especially with their opponent being the team that they knocked out of the playoffs in what was a come-down-to-the-wire type of game. The Bills escaped with a 27-25 win over the Ravens to advance to the AFC championship game.
If this does indeed come true and is solidified, we will get to witness another chapter in the Josh Allen vs. Lamar Jackson rivalry. Jackson and the Ravens usually get the best of the Bills, but not in the playoffs. However, these two were tied together last year when it came to the MVP race. One of them was destined to win it and in the end, the voters got it right by awarding Allen his first MVP award of his career.
Josh Allen may get to prove why he was 2024 MVP in Week 1 vs. Ravens
Fans can make an argument as to why either Allen or Jackson should have won the MVP award last season. However, there is one simple factor that puts Allen ahead of Jackson; he is more valuable to the Bills than Jackson is to the Ravens. Without Allen, the Bills are a near-the-bottom team in the league. The Ravens still atleast have a powerback in Derrick Henry along with a defense that is more physical than the Bills.
Again, we will still need to see this news get confirmed officially. However, if the NFL kicks off the Sunday Night Football schedule in Buffalo with a Bills vs. Ravens battle, that is the perfect start and we get to see Allen vs. Jackson right out of the gate.
