The NFL Draft is an exciting once a year event for all football fans. It’s not just because of where players land, but the drama that comes with it that includes shocking moves that are made (and aren’t made). The Buffalo Bills are no stranger to this kind of set up, but the likelihood of them creating any kind of major moves like moving up is highly unlikely.
With having to wait until the 26th pick and not having a second round pick, Buffalo is not in the best position at all. There is actually a solid chance that they could trade back out of that spot, but they also could make a pick and walk out of the round with a top prospect. We will find out very soon.
As Bills fans are getting ready for the draft, NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler just delivered some big news going into the draft that involves Buffalo, and fans should be excited about it.
Bills fans will love what Jeremy Fowler reported heading into NFL Draft
According to Fowler, he has been asking NFL scouts which off-ball linebacker “goes second at the position this week, after Sonny Styles.”
Fowler said that the consensus pick was Jacob Rodriguez out of Texas Tech, and that is no surprise. However, Fowler then said that “Carolina and Buffalo are among teams that did extensive homework on Rodriguez.”

Rodriguez has a very good chance at getting drafted late in the first round, and the Bills do have a late first round pick. Now, if the Bills decide to make Rodriguez their first pick of the draft, then Buffalo will be waiting quite awhile for their second pick which is late in the third round.
If they decide to trade back or even out of the first round, then they take a potential risk of losing out on Rodriguez. There are always risks when it comes to making (and not making) decisions. With this report coming out from Fowler, it makes you wonder if the Bills have their eyes set on Rodriguez in the first round, or if they are looking to trade back and hope that he falls to them.
Rodriguez is coming off a great two-year stretch at Texas Tech where he has recorded 100+ tackles from 2024-2025, and he also had 7 forced fumbles and 4 interceptions this past season. With the Bills letting Matt Milano walk in free agency, they need to address getting a quality replacement for him and there is no better option than Rodriguez.
