In less than 48 hours, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will kickoff their 2026 season. Even though the start of the season is always an exciting time, the Bills are going up against a tough Houston Texans team that has Buffalo's number in recent memory. The Bills haven't beaten the Texans in Houston since 2006...that is quite the statline going into Sunday's showdown.
There are two big stories when it comes to the Texans that Bills fans should know about. First, quarterback C.J. Stroud has been an up-and-down quarterback ever since his second season in the league. If the game is in Stroud's hands, there's a chance that Buffalo could very well leave Houton with a win.
Second, Houston's defense is very elite and they are led by arguably the best pass-rushing duo in Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter. In last year's matchup between these teams, Josh Allen was being chased all over the field and he was sacked 8 times. That cannot happen again.
Bills must correct mistakes from last year's battle against Texans
Even though the Texans have one of, if not the best defense in football, that doesn't mean that they are perfect. Not to mention, they are going up against a newer Bills offense that features new playmakers like DJ Moore and Skyler Bell. Oh, let's not forget either that James Cook had over 100 rushing yards against the Texans last season.
With all that being said, even though the Bills have one of the best offenses, NFL analyst and former player Manti Te'o of Good Morning Football is essentially giving the Bills' offense no chance against the Texans.
"The Houston Texans, you're not going to be that defense. There are no weaknesses at every single position on that defense." said Te'o.
"Your defense has to do something to that Houston Texans offense, and control the field. Wherever the field is, get some turnovers on their side of the football field. Josh Allen is going to do a lot, he's going to have to do a lot because Houston and that Houston Texans defense is the best." Te'o added.

Josh Allen has perfect opportunity to silence any doubters
I get it, Allen has not been the best when facing the Texans. The only time that he has led the Bills to a win over them was in 2021 when the Bills won 40-0 (when the Texans were among the worst teams in the NFL). However, he's still Josh Allen and he is the best quarterback in the league.
In last year's game against the Texans, he was down multiple weapons and he eventually lost some of his offensive linemen. The Bills are set to go into this game with all of their starters so the matchup will be more balanced.
Bills fans have heard the chatters about how the Texans have the best of them. Now, Josh Allen and Joe Brady have the chance to change that narrative as the new era of Bills football kicks off this Sunday.
