After facing criticism of not addressing the wide receiver room aggressively the last two offseasons, the Buffalo Bills went out and traded for D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears. While it did cost them a second round pick, Brandon Beane did a great job trading down on the first night of the NFL Draft and he ended up gaining more picks than he had going into it.

During the draft, the Bills managed to acquire UConn wide receiver Skyler Bell who should become an important contributor sooner than later. For now though, the duo of Moore and Khalil Shakir should do some damage against secondaries.

Shakir has been a go-to receiver for Josh Allen for two seasons now, and with Moore coming into the offense, teams won’t be able to focus on Shakir solely. Not to mention, Dalton Kincaid is gearing up for a big year in 2026.

Even though Moore has taken a snap with the Bills yet, the duo of him and Shakir is already gaining major love going into the 2026 season.

Bills' newest WR duo ready to make immediate impact in 2026

Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone ranked every AFC wide receiver duo going into the summer and the duo of Moore and Shakir received major praise coming in at #3 behind the duo of Jaylen Waddle/Courtland Sutton, and Ja’Marr Chase/Tee Higgins.

"The trade to acquire DJ Moore was criticized as an overpay by a lot of folks in the NFL world, but not by me. He's exactly what Buffalo needed on the outside, and has familiarity with new head coach Joe Brady from their time together with the Panthers." said Bedinger.

"Alongside Khalil Shakir, Moore gives the Bills an enviable duo of receivers after the catch. They might be the best duo in the NFL when it comes to making plays in space, and we know Moore can win contested catch situations downfield as well." said Bedinger.

The fact that Josh Allen was able to win the MVP in 2024 and still find a way to carry the Bills into the divisional round of the playoffs last season is already mindblowing. Now that he has a great wide receiver duo with Moore and Shakir on the outside, the Bills have added extra help to their receiving core.

Shakir is a great slot receiver, but teams were able to focus on him because of the lack of receivers in Buffalo. Now with the additions of Moore and Bell to the receiving room, the Bills have the opportunity to do some major damage with the best quarterback standing in the pocket and throwing it down the field.
