Both the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens made huge coaching decisions with moving on from John Harbaugh and Sean McDermott. Both Harbaugh and McDermott set the standard in their respective buildings, but with constantly coming up short, both coaches were fired this offseason. Harbaugh eventually landed with the New York Giants while McDermott plans on taking the 2026 season off.

The Bills are going with Joe Brady and the Ravens are going with Jesse Minter. Brady has been in the building and has continuity with Josh Allen. Minter spent some time in Baltimore from 2017-2020, spending three seasons with Jackson. Since then, he has worked at the University of Michigan and the Los Angeles Chargers.

He comes back to Baltimore this time in charge of the whole operation. Now, he and his staff will need to decide if Lamar Jackson is indeed their franchise quarterback. Jackson is without doubt a franchise player and he’s one of the best in the league. At the same time, there has been some drama between the organization and Jackson in recent years.

With a new regime coming in on the sideline, the Ravens are in a position where if they wanted to have a hard reset, now is the time. Moe Moton from Bleacher Report recently put together mock trades that involve the Raiders trading the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, and one of the mocks listed was the Ravens trading QB Lamar Jackson, LB Trent Simpson, and a 2026 2nd-round pick.

Ravens-Raiders mock trade has Bills seeing Baltimore take hard step in wrong direction

While this scenario is highly unlikely, you can never rule out anything in the NFL. We have seen the unthinkable happen before. If the Ravens ever decided to move on from Lamar Jackson in his prime, that would put them in a huge spot for a disaster. Moving on from Jackson for someone like Fernando Mendoza would be a massive downgrade.

It’s not a knock on Mendoza as a player, but he’s no Lamar Jackson. The Ravens have been a constant challenge for the Bills and if they decided to move on from the guy that has made life difficult for the Bills at times, Bills fans shouldn’t mind that at all.

Again, I seriously doubt that the Ravens make this kind of blockbuster trade that has them moving on from Jackson. At the same time, whenever you think something is impossible in this league, it somehow becomes possible and fans are left speechless.
