The start of the NFL season is less than a week away with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys next Thursday night. The Sunday games will be concluded with the Buffalo Bills hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Orchard Park.

All 32 teams have trimmed down their rosters to the final 53 players, but don’t think general managers aren’t looking to make moves to keep improving their roster. While some front offices are looking to improve, some might also be looking to send players away and collect draft picks.

Just within the AFC East, the Bills are the clear-cut powerhouse team. The New England Patriots are still rebuilding, but they have a lot of promise moving forward based on the moves they made this past offseason. Then you have the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets who are you could argue in a rebuild and it’s going to take them quite some time to get back to being a contender.

Focusing on the Jets, there is a new regime with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey. They are building from the ground up and they are trying to change the culture that the Jets have had for many years. However, they have shown that they are willing to pay players that they didn’t draft (Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson), and also move on from players like Aaron Rodgers.

Latest trade proposal has Jets trading away a powerful player (and that should make Bills fans happy)

One player that is entering a contract whose future in New York is unclear is running back Breece Hall. Drafted in the second round in 2022 out of Iowa State, Hall was a fantastic addition to this Jets offense but an early torn ACL injury in his rookie year has limited him in some ways.

He came back strong in his second year, rushing for 994 yards and 5 touchdowns. Last season, he had similar stats but rushed for less yards. Now entering a contract year, he will be looking to show that he is worth a second contract from the Jets. However, a proposed trade from Moe Moton of Bleacher Report has the Jets moving on from Hall.

Moton has the proposal of the Jets trading Hall to the Cowboys in exchange for WR Jalen Tolbert and a 2026 4th-round pick. Here's a bit on what Moton said about this trade proposal:

"The Jets can trade Hall for a middle-round draft pick and Tolbert, who can immediately bolster their wide receiver unit while still maintaining a robust ground attack with [Braelon] Allen, [Isaiah] Davis and [Justin] Fields leading the charge."
Moe Moton, Bleacher Report

I can understand why the Jets would potentially move on from Hall, but he’s clearly the best back that the Jets have and it would be a mistake for New York to move on from him. From the Bills’ perspective, this would help Buffalo’s defense as they have struggled against Hall in the past.

The Jets trading away Hall would be a big mistake for them, but it would be a great thing to see as Bills fans.
