For the second consecutive season, the Buffalo Bills are off to a 3-0 start which includes back-to-back division wins over the Jets and Dolphins. Buffalo is in the middle of a three game home stretch, winning last week at home against the Dolphins and will be taking on the Saints and Patriots the next two weeks.
Buffalo is averaging over 30 points per game, winning in both a comeback fashion, as well as flat out dominating the game. Their defense has some issues and injuries to work through, but overall, the Bills are in a great spot. Now granted anything can change over the course of this season, but we can only go based off what's happening currently.
Since 2019, the Bills have made the playoffs every single season and have made the AFC championship twice (both ending in heartbreak losses to the Chiefs). This year’s Bills team looks nearly unstoppable as long as the defense can make an adjustment on the fly. With the Ravens and Chiefs getting off to slow starts and the Bengals losing Joe Burrow until December, the AFC could easily run through Buffalo.
Recent stat shows just how great of setup Bills have for another deep playoff run
Russell S. Baxter from NFL Spin Zone discussed an interesting stat heading into Buffalo’s Week 4 matchup against the Saints that is important for fans to know. According to Baxter, there are six teams that are currently sitting at 3-0, one of them of course being the Bills.
Per Baxter, since 2020, 22 teams have started out a season 3-0 and 19 of them all made the playoffs.
"The Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and San Francisco 49ers have all won their first three games this season. That’s a total of six teams in the league with 3-0 records, the most since 2020 when there were seven clubs that opened with three wins. Since 2020, 22 teams have started 3-0, and 19 of those squads reached the postseason. The Bills have started out 3-0 three times in that span (2020, 2024, 2025). With the way that the Bills are playing now, there is a great chance that not only will they make the playoffs, but they will finally get the top seed in the AFC and have the chance to rest before playing in the playoffs.
The Colts and Chargers are the only other 3-0 AFC teams with Buffalo. The Bills have a more proven track record as far as stability and winning close games against tough opponents. Buffalo has never had the No. 1 seed in the AFC with Josh Allen under center and quite frankly, it could be the difference maker for them to finally reach the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs are not a strong team despite Patrick Mahomes being under center, and the Ravens can’t close out close games despite having one of the best rosters in the NFL. Buffalo already has the tie-breaker on Baltimore and they haven’t lost to the Chiefs in the regular season since 2020. I know we keep saying it every season, but this year really does feel like the year that Buffalo can go all the way.
