The NFL schedule will officially be released later tonight at 8PM EST and the Buffalo Bills will soon find out when they will be taking on their set opponents. There are two games that we know that the Bills will officially be playing in.

In Week 2, the Bills will open up their new stadium on Thursday Night Football against the Detroit Lions. Then on Thanksgiving night, the Bills will reportedly host the Kansas City Chiefs on NBC. Two known primetime games and there should be more to come.

There have been plenty of leaks and officially confirmed games throughout the entire league, but 8PM EST will finally show us who will be playing who at specific times. Since the Bills will be having their home opener in Week 2, they were destined to be on the road in Week 1.

A potential schedule leak per @OzzyNFL shows the last thing that the Bills should want as a season opener. According to @OzzyNFL, the Bills are rumored to head down to Houston to take on the Texans in Week 1 for a 1PM battle.

Bills rumored to take on Houston Texans in Week 1 of 2026 season

If this leak does officially become confirmed, it’s the ultimate nightmare for the Bills to kick off their season. Buffalo and Houston faced each other last season and the Texans held off Buffalo with a 23-19 win. However, the Texans defense was punishing Buffalo’s offense.

Josh Allen was sacked 8 times and he was hit a total of 12 times. Not to mention, he was chased early and often by Will Anderson Jr. who is on his way to become the best edge rusher in the league in the foreseeable future.

Houston added to their defense with drafting defensive tackle Kayden McDonald out of Ohio State, adding more firepower to the trenches. With DeMeco Ryans being a fantastic defensive-minded coach, Joe Brady is going to be put to the test right away as the Bills’ new head coach.

The one advantage to this matchup for Buffalo is that they get Houston out of the way early on. However, the Bills don’t have great success against the Texans when they play in Houston. Things can always change for sure, and the Bills do have a bit of an improved roster. Still though, they will be tested right away and things could get messy if the Bills get off to a slow start.
