It’s not very often that we hear that a star player could be on the move in the NFL. While we do see players looking to get paid market value or even try to reset the market, there is usually some drama that comes up, but then in most cases, a deal gets done and then all of the smoke that was out there goes away.

However, that doesn’t seem to be the case for Giants star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence. According to Ian Rapoport, while the Giants and Lawrence have had conversations about a new big-money extension, it appears that both sides have reached an “impasse.” Rapoport then reported that the Giants “have engaged with teams on a potential trade and that will continue. It should come to a head before the Draft.”

If there is truly an impasse between Lawrence and the Giants, the Buffalo Bills should be calling up the Giants immediately and really push to get a deal done to bring Lawrence to Western New York.

The Bills are in need of true run-stopper and with them being in a championship window, why wouldn't they go all-in for Lawrence?

Bills must do whatever it takes to acquire DT Dexter Lawrence from Giants

It’s a new era at One Bills Drive. Sean McDermott is out, Joe Brady is in. Brandon Beane remains in the building, but now he will have full control of the roster and with the Bills having all kinds of difficulty stopping the run last season, putting Lawrence into Jim Leonhard’s defense is exactly what Buffalo needs in the trenches.

Part of the reason why the Bills had bad stretches last season and lost the AFC East to the New England Patriots was because they couldn’t stop the run. When a defense can’t stop the run early on, it becomes a big factor as to why they may lose or almost lose the game.

You might argue that the Bills don’t have the draft capital to trade for Lawrence, but it might only take a first rounder and maybe an extra pick, which could go into 2027. With the Bills picked at No. 26 overall, any player that Buffalo would draft there won’t be an immediate impactful player like Lawrence would.

The championship window for the Bills gets smaller each year they don’t make the Super Bowl, and Josh Allen isn’t getting any younger. Buffalo has already went out and traded for D.J. Moore for the offense, and added necessary help in the secondary. Now, it’s time to fix the defensive line and bring in someone like Lawrence who can be a game wrecker.
