The NFL Draft is just eight days away and we cannot wait for the event to kick off from Pittsburgh. The Buffalo Bills will have to wait a little bit as their first pick isn’t scheduled until No. 26, meaning that they will have to be patient to see how the board falls to them before making a decision on who they want to bring to Orchard Park.
With the Bills being one of the best teams in the league for quite sometime now, one of the only downsides of it is not having a higher draft pick. However, I believe that is fine amongst most if not all Bills fans. Then again, they lose out on the chance to acquire some of the best talent coming out of college.
One team in their division has been picking high in the draft for many years now, and that is the New York Jets. For various reasons why, the Jets have semed to always find themselves near the top of the draft order. This year, they have two second round picks as they acquired the Colts’ first rounder for CB Sauce Gardner.
The Jets will have the chance to draft atleast two prospects in the Top-16, which includes at No. 2 overall. Most if not everyone is expecting the Jets to draft an edge rusher like David Bailey or Arvell Reese second overall. What they do after that is still remained to be seen, but NFL Spin Zone’s Sayre Bedinger put together a mock draft that has the Jets trading back up into the top ten to take arguably the best receiver in this class, Carnell Tate out of Ohio State.
NFL mock draft has Bills seeing Jets creating a fantastic 1-2 WR duo
In Bedinger’s mock draft, the Jets trade up to No. 7 with the Washington Commanders to draft Tate and it would give the Jets a great wide receiver combo with Tate and Garrett Wilson.
Even though Tate wouldn’t be the answer to all of the Jets’ problems that they have on the roster, them gaining him would give the Jets a phenomenal receiver duo and then all that they would need to do is finally get a quarterback who can maximize that wideout duo.
As of right now, Geno Smith is set to be the starter for the Jets at quarterback, but with next year being a quarterback friendly draft, they may have the chance to land one of the top prospects in next year’s draft. Getting someone like Tate boosts their receiving core and it could give the Bills problems in the future if the Jets overcome their major quarterback problem.
