The NFL combine has been underway and teams have had the chance to talk to some of the top prospects as well as see them show off what they can do in the workouts. It’s the first step to the offseason and it gives teams a better idea on who they will be going for on draft day.
The Buffalo Bills have had the chance to speak with multiple prospects, including wideout KC Concepcion would be a great fit for them in an offense with Josh Allen.
While the Bills have plenty of players that they should be talking to because of the needs on their roster, one position that they don’t have to worry about is running back. They have the league’s leading rusher in James Cook, and quality backups in Ray Davis and Ty Johnson. Buffalo doesn’t have a need at all for a running back, but one of their bitter conference rivals does.
That would be the Kansas City Chiefs, or should I say the team that Buffalo can’t beat in the playoffs. They missed out on the playoffs for the first time in a long time for a number of reasons. Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL, the defense wasn’t as dynamic in crucial situations, and their rushing attack was extremely limited. Much like the Bills, the Chiefs also have a good amount of holes on the roster and running back is a key emphasis for them this offseason.
Top RB prospect says comments that Bills fans should be nervous about
The top running back prospect coming out of this draft class is Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love who was in the running for the Heisman Trophy that eventually went to Fernando Mendoza. Love has a very good chance at going in the Top-10 and the Chiefs currently hold the 9th overall pick.
Love talked with Rich Eisen at the combine and there was a discussion on how Love is from Missouri himself and that he believes Patrick Mahomes “is the best quarterback as of right now” and that “it would be an honor to play with him.”
"I'd be close to home. ... I feel like [Patrick Mahomes] is the best quarterback as of right now. ... It would be an honor to play with him."

Putting Love in the Chiefs offense would immediately improve their offense, which would be bad news for Buffalo’s defense. The Bills have already had a tough time stopping Mahomes in critical moments (specifically in the playoffs) and having to possibly deal with Love who could easily become a Top-5 back in his first three years in the league would be a huge headache for the Bills.
Love comes from being part of one of the best rushing attacks in the country at Notre Dame, where he rushed for over 1,100+ yards and 17+ touchdowns the last two seasons with the Fighting Irish. He is an extremely dynamic playmaker and he is going to thrive wherever he goes.
Bills fans better hope Love doesn’t land with the Chiefs because if he does, it just adds another challenge that Buffalo will have to get through if they and the Chiefs meet in the playoffs in the foreseeable future.
