The offense for the Buffalo Bills is led by Josh Allen, who isn’t just the best player on the team, but he’s one of the best in the entire league. In fact, some might say he is the best offensive player in the league (which is not a bad take at all). However, he can’t always do it himself. He needs support.
Running back James Cook has stepped up big time the last two years, having led the league in both rushing touchdowns (16 in 2024) and rushing yards (1,621 yards in 2025). The rushing attack for the Bills sparked once Joe Brady took over the playcalling in 2023, which has helped the offense become more well-balanced. However, there needs to be someone else that steps up for the offense in terms of the passing game.
Some people would say that DJ Moore is the most logical answer, since the Bills traded for him this past offseason from the Chicago Bears. It would make total sense, but fans should not forget about one Allen’s go-to targets in tight end Dalton Kincaid.
Dalton Kincaid has opportunity step up big time for Bills in 2026
Kincaid is entering his fourth season with the Bills, but a knee injury since the middle of 2024 has kept him back a bit. The good news is that when Kincaid has been on the field, he has shown to be the “Travis Kelce” of the Bills’ offense. He and Allen have the connection that has shown flashes to be one of the best QB/TE combos in the league.
He was ranked as the No. 6 tight end going into the 2026 season by Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick from Pro Football Focus (PFF), and one factor that stands out about Kincaid that was mentioned was that he “generated a 149.2 passer rating when targeted, the second-best mark among all tight ends.” There is a lot of promise for what he can bring, especially since Joe Brady talked about how stronger Kincaid looked this offseason.
At the same time, Kincaid can still be overlooked, just like he was by Sayre Bedinger of NFL Spin Zone, who created a list of the AFC’s Top 5 tight ends going into the season and left Kincaid off the list.
Dalton Kincaid must prove any doubters wrong that he has
The tight ends that were listed were Brock Bowers (Las Vegas Raiders), Tyler Warren (Indianapolis Colts), Harold Fannin Jr. (Cleveland Browns), Travis Kelce (Kansas City Chiefs), and Brenton Strange (Jacksonville Jaguars).
All of these tight ends certainly should be recognized, but how can Kincaid be left off? Last season, out of 49 targets, Kincaid had 39 catches. He also averaged 14.6 yards per reception and had a career-high 5 touchdowns despite only playing in 12 games.
As long as Kincaid can stay healthy, he should easily be one of the league’s top tight ends. Even with the addition of DJ Moore, Kincaid is still a big factor in Joe Brady’s offense and now that Brady is in charge of the whole operation, there’s no reason why Kincaid shouldn’t take a massive step forward in Year 4.
