The Buffalo Bills won’t have to wait long for their first primetime matchup of the 2026 season. After their Week 1 away matchup against the Houston Texans, the Bills will be on a short week as they will prepare for the opening of their new stadium on Thursday Night Football where they will host the Detroit Lions.
Buffalo and Detroit faced off against each other in 2024 where the Bills won 48-42 and Josh Allen had 4 total touchdowns. The Lions attempted a comeback late in the 4th quarter, but Buffalo escaped with the much-needed win.
These two out-of-conference opponents will give the NFL an early showdown that the entire world will see on primetime. Even though the Lions weren’t a playoff team last year, they are still one of the better teams in the league and they have been knocking on the Super Bowl door the last couple of years, just like the Bills.
Imagine a world where both Buffalo and Detroit, two cities that don’t have a Super Bowl in their franchise history, meet each other on February 14th, 2027 with the chance to win the Lombardi trophy…well, NFL analyst Kyle Brandt is predicting that it will happen.
Bills vs. Lions Super Bowl is the matchup fans want to see
Now that the NFL schedule is officially out, various analysts on NFL on ESPN did way-too-early Super Bowl predictions and Kyle Brandt who is an honorary member of Bills Mafia is predicting a Bills vs. Lions Super Bowl.
“I want Detroit/Buffalo. One of these teams is going to win the Super Bowl” said Brandt. “Detroit and Buffalo rolling into Inglewood, California with this those fanbases, one of them is going to win, I want it” Brandt added.

It’s extremely hard to make the Super Bowl, let alone win it all. Both Buffalo and Detroit have some of the most passionate fanbases in the league, and both of them are hoping to see Super Bowl success sooner than later. This would be the ultimate Super Bowl matchup that all NFL fans should want to watch.
It would feature two students who have historically had rough history throughout their franchises, but are now some of the best teams in the league.
This Week 2 primetime matchup could very well be an early Super Bowl preview if they dominate in the regular season and going into the playoffs.
