After a very rough 2025 season, and the Buffalo Bills traded for DJ Moore (along with drafting Skyler Bell), things weren’t looking so great for wideout Keon Coleman. After his Week 1 breakout performance against the Baltimore Ravens last season, it all went downhill from there.

Not only did he fail to reach 50 yards in a game after Week 1, he was ruled as a healthy scratch due to maturity issues that he was dealing with. It got to the point where it felt like his time in Buffalo was closer to being done that him being part of the future. Then once Sean McDermott was fired, it seemed like everything involving Coleman was truly on the table.

Luckily for Coleman, the Bills hired Joe Brady to take over as head coach and with him working with Coleman the last two seasons, this was the time for Coleman to potentially be utilized properly, especially since Brady had been showing public support for Coleman this past offseason.

Keon Coleman's 2026 start is off to way better start than 2025

Through five games, Coleman has recorded 224 yards and 2 touchdowns, which is already half of the amount of touchdowns he scored last season. Despite the Bills losing Week 4 against the New England Patriots, that was when Coleman had a great game. He finished with 6 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown that would have been the game-winner for the Bills, had their defense actually done its job.

This past Monday night, Coleman didn't have the best receiving stats, but he managed to get into the endzone that was the start of 6 consecutive touchdown drives between both teams.

Coming into this season, Seth Walder from ESPN had one prediction for the Bills, and that was Coleman recording 750+ receiving yards and atleast five touchdowns. Walder revisted his predictions to see which were on track, and Walder highlighted the predictions about Coleman and wrote about why it's well on target:

"Coleman had been on a bit of a production tear on plays when DJ Moore was off the field until Monday night, when he managed only 7 receiving yards in a game that Moore missed. Still, Coleman's 224 receiving yards put him on pace for 761 yards over a full season. If Moore -- who did not play Monday due to a shoulder injury-- misses more time, that will help Coleman's cause. Not playing the Rams every week should, too." said Walder.

Bills fans could see Keon Coleman becoming a true difference-maker for Bills

It feels like Coleman was able to work on some things this past offseason because we are seeing him being productive on the field in some capacity, and there isn't any negative coverage about him like there was last season.

There have been two games where DJ Moore has left due to his shoulder injury (Weeks 2 & 4). Those are the games that Coleman has had the chance to step up and make an impact. Between those two games, Coleman has 12 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown.

We are now entering the middle of the season, and fans will be closely watching to see how Coleman progresses. He is on his way to reaching Walder's prediction, but we all know that anything can happen.
