At some point, the accolades have to grow old, don't they?
Nonsense! Not for Bills Mafia who continue to watch Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen pull rabbit after rabbit out of his hat. The reigning NFL MVP is far from done breaking records and earning hardware.
Against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football in Week 3, Allen began the game with a couple of touchdown drives that featured some of his typical "wow" moments. But, what some fans might not have noticed is the fact that he also accomplished something spectacular.
Allen became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 300 total touchdowns, doing it in 127 games. Not only did Allen break the record, he also took that record from none other than Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes who had previously owned that record and set it in 128 career games.
Ah, that feels quite good, doesn't it? So long, Patrick. Move on over.
Josh Allen's legend continues to grow alongside Patrick Mahomes
For all of the comparison talk between Allen and Mahomes, of course there is one thing (well, three things, technically) that the Bills' franchise quarterback doesn't have at this point. Yes, it's the Super Bowl championships.
And, while Bills fans are sure Allen will end up with at least one when it's all said and done, it continues to escape him to this point. But, there is still plenty of time for him to catch up. At 29 years old, Allen doesn't show any signs of slowing down soon.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs began the year 0-2 and have some issues of their own to figure out. No one is sounding the alarm just yet, of course, but it certainly feels good if you're a Bills fan to watch the Chiefs look lost through the early portion of the season.
Also, for those who might be wondering where Allen ranks all-time in terms of total touchdowns scored, he still has a ways to go to catch the great Tom Brady who owns that record with 677 between passing and rushing.
