When the news broke ahead of the Buffalo Bills’ Week 11 game that Keon Coleman would be a healthy scratch, there were a lot of fans that thought players like Gabe Davis and Mecole Hardman would get more involved in the offensive gameplan. While Davis had his catches here and there, Hardman was mainly on special teams but he then injured his calf in the game.

Instead, it was Tyrell Shavers who stepped up for the wide receivers and led them in targets, catches and yards. He finished the game with 4 catches for 90 yards and a score that jump started the Bills momentum on offense in the second quarter.

This was Shavers’ breakout game and he showed that he can be a contributor for Josh Allen and the offense down the field. He managed to create separation and get open in the middle of the field. He kind of took the role that Dalton Kincaid usually has which made life easier for the offense.

Josh Allen praises Tyrell Shavers after Week 11 performance

Shavers has been a fan-favorite for some time now and after his impressive preseason performance, he earned a roster spot in the wide receiver room. He hasn’t had a big role in the offense, but has made some nice plays here and there. Well, this game against the Bucs showed the Bills and Josh Allen just how special he could be moving forward.

Per Jenna Cottrell, Allen spoke with the media and gave Shavers high praise about his progress that he has made. Allen talked about how Shavers “just continues to work extremely hard” and how he has worked his way up from the practice squad and “making legit plays in the NFL” and saying that it is “inspiring”.

This game proves that Shavers deserves a bigger role in the offense. He has worked his way up and in a game where the Bills needed a must-win game, he was Allen’s go-to guy. If that isn’t enough for him to get more involved, I don’t know what is.
